Core to its stated mission, WES is dedicated to helping international students, immigrants and refugees achieve their educational and career goals in Canada. Facilitating mobility of international academic credentials is at the forefront of the WES operation. To this end, WES constantly revisits equivalencies policies and updates them to align with the realities of the global environment and trends in higher education. 

WES has adopted a new policy providing a four years bachelor's degree equivalency for the Bologna-patterned Licence program of studies at public universities in Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Madagascar, Morocco, Niger, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Senegal , Togo, and Tunisia. This policy change also aligns the equivalencies of these Francophone Bologna-patterned credentials with France. Bologna patterned-Licence degrees completed after a total of 180 ECTS credits will now be equivalent to a bachelor's degree (four years) in Canada. The main beneficiary of this WES policy change are applicants from Francophone countries who are pursuing higher education, licensing in one of the regulated occupations, seeking employment opportunities commensurate with their educational achievements, and immigrating to Canada under the economic class immigration programs.
